At the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games was the moment she made history by becoming the first person to achieve a perfect 10, in bars that were symmetrical. In addition, she went to score another six perfect 10s making her the youngest overall Olympic gold medalist, at just 14 years of age. Comaneci didn't just draw worldwide attention; she also put Romania onto the map. The sports icon became a global sensation when she came up with an unbeatable performance. Her story became a legend as well as helped make gymnastics a popular sport across the world. It also changed people's perception of female gymnasts. This was due to the effect she made at the Olympics and the release move that both moves toe-on (toes on) and release are named after her. They've remained until today, as difficult. Aside from the Olympics she was also the hottest athlete at World Championships and European Championships. Her performance have made her one of the best gymnasts ever. The US she was able to advertise sporting goods and models after leaving her native country.
